Job: Whare Waka Cafe
Location: Waitangi, Bay of Islands

The café was re-named to reflect its position on the site and the relationship to Te Korowai Maikuku, the building that houses the waka taua Ngātokimatawhaorua. The notional upturned waka ceiling piece speaks to the maori legend of the creation of the milkyway. At a more functional level it distributes audio and lighting across the space and moderates what used to be a very noisy environment.
